Spain Faces Argentina In Davis Cup Final


World No.1 Rafael Nadal lead his nation Spain into its sixth Davis Cup final where they will face Argentina in its first final since defeating the U.S. for the 2004 title.Spain won its first Davis Cup title in 2000 & were runners-up in 1965, '67 and 2003.

Rafael Nadal dismissed Andy Roddick 6-4,6-0,6-4 & Sam Querrey in four sets in the singles semifinals of Davis Cup 2008 & advanced to the finals with 4-1 lead against USA.



Rising Star Juan Martin Del Potro lead Argentina into its third Davis Cup final defeating Russian Igor Andreev 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 in the fifth rubber.Two-time finalist Argentina has now won 13 straight ties at home, including 4-1 victories over Great Britain and Sweden this year.

No.13 For Roger Federer!


Former World No.1 Roger Federer who spent 237 weeks at No.1 before being displaced by Rafael Nadal won his 13th Grandslam & his 5th consecutive US Open title.Federer became the first man to win 5 consecutive US Open titles since Bill Tilden won six in a row from 1920-25, after defeating first time grandslam finalist Andy Murray in straight sets.

The 27 year old Swiss superstar who many consider as an all time legend improved his grandslam final record to 13-4 and moved to within one of all-time leader Pete Sampras (14-4).He alos became the first person to win 2 different Grandslam 5 consecutive times(Wimbledon 2003-07).Read more here........

Simon wins Bucharest Open!


Gilles Simon of France won the Bucharest Open Romania title defeating former World No.1 Carlos Moya 6-3, 6-4 in the finals & increased his chances of Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai Qualification after successfully defending his title.

Simon who entered the week at No.15 will rise to No.12 in the next ATP 2008 Race, 48 points behind James Blake in eighth position.He will also rise career high No.13 in the ATP Rankings with 5 ATP Titles this year. Read more here........
