World No.2 Roger Federer moved in to the finals of ATP Basel defeating Feliciano Lopez 6-3,6-2 in the semifinals.The Top seed and the 2 time defending champion fired 15 aces and won 28 o 31 service points & improved his record 7-0 against Lopez.The basel native will face World No.8 David Nalbandian in the finals.

Nalbandian defeated in form Juan Martin Del Potro 6-4,6-4 in the semifinals & avenged his defeat at ATP Masters Series Madrid last week.He meets Federer for the 18th time when they play on Sunday's Swiss Indoor Final.

Nalbandian Wins Stockholm Open!


World No.7 David Nalbandian won his ninth ATP title with 6-2,5-7,6-3 victory over Robin Soderling and added 40 points to his ATP 2008 Race, jumped 9 places to 19th & raises his hopes of qualifying for Tennis Masters Cup.He will next compete in the ATP Masters Series Madrid where he is the defending champion which starts on October 13th.

Rising Star Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentine kept his hopes alive of qualifying for Tennis Masters Cup 2008 when he defeated Richard Gasquet 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 to reach the ATP AIG Japan Open Final at Tokyo where he faces Tomas Berdych who defeated Andy Roddick in the semifpnals.It was his 29th match win from 30 matches.

Berdych was 3-5 down in the third set with Roddick serving for the match but he fought back to win the match 6-7(3), 7-5, 7-6(3) after 2hrs & 13 min.Del Potro & Berdych are meeting for the first time in an ATP tournament.

Spain Faces Argentina In Davis Cup Final


World No.1 Rafael Nadal lead his nation Spain into its sixth Davis Cup final where they will face Argentina in its first final since defeating the U.S. for the 2004 title.Spain won its first Davis Cup title in 2000 & were runners-up in 1965, '67 and 2003.

Rafael Nadal dismissed Andy Roddick 6-4,6-0,6-4 & Sam Querrey in four sets in the singles semifinals of Davis Cup 2008 & advanced to the finals with 4-1 lead against USA.



Rising Star Juan Martin Del Potro lead Argentina into its third Davis Cup final defeating Russian Igor Andreev 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 in the fifth rubber.Two-time finalist Argentina has now won 13 straight ties at home, including 4-1 victories over Great Britain and Sweden this year.

Former World No.1 Roger Federer who spent 237 weeks at No.1 before being displaced by Rafael Nadal won his 13th Grandslam & his 5th consecutive US Open title.Federer became the first man to win 5 consecutive US Open titles since Bill Tilden won six in a row from 1920-25, after defeating first time grandslam finalist Andy Murray in straight sets.

The 27 year old Swiss superstar who many consider as an all time legend improved his grandslam final record to 13-4 and moved to within one of all-time leader Pete Sampras (14-4).He alos became the first person to win 2 different Grandslam 5 consecutive times(Wimbledon 2003-07).Read more here........

Simon wins Bucharest Open!


Gilles Simon of France won the Bucharest Open Romania title defeating former World No.1 Carlos Moya 6-3, 6-4 in the finals & increased his chances of Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai Qualification after successfully defending his title.

Simon who entered the week at No.15 will rise to No.12 in the next ATP 2008 Race, 48 points behind James Blake in eighth position.He will also rise career high No.13 in the ATP Rankings with 5 ATP Titles this year. Read more here........
